MNF Preview and Bets: Las Vegas Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs

10/09/2022

Sports Opinion by Ethan Irish and Josh Blatt

The Las Vegas Raiders head to Kansas City for this divisional matchup against the Chiefs. The Raiders have struggled this year with their only win coming against the Denver Broncos which is not all that impressive. Kansas City on the other hand is still a Super Bowl contender led by the always MVP candidate quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Ethan's Take:

Week 5 has not been great to me, Damien Harris gets hurt immediately, the Browns miss an easy game winning field goal, and the Jags can't score the ball apparently. That said, I have to move on.

I completely expect the Chiefs to dominate this game all the way around. If it were being played in Vegas I might have a slightly different approach but with it in Kansas City I do not think the Raiders are up for this prime time matchup. Mahomes has been consistent for the majority of this season with the exception of their weird loss to the Colts, which I predicted by the way.

What I am looking to see in this game is if the Raiders are as bad as they have been throughout the first four weeks. They have talent on offense with Josh Jacobs in the backfield, Darren Waller who is a top 5 tight end in the league, and the newly added Davante Adams who is one of the best wide receivers in the league. They might put up some points but I do not expect them to slow down the Chiefs by any means

Josh's Take:

Well I said that Dallas Goedert was going to have a big day, and he did-- but he couldn't get one into the end zone unfortunately, but he did hit his 45.5 yard over which put me at 1-1, Justin Jefferson hit his 83.5 yard over in the first quarter, and Von Miller recorded a sack against the Steelers. At this point 3-1 seems pretty good until I realize I placed a James Robinson anytime touchdown scorer bet and nobody on the Jaguars could cross the goal line today. Tough luck, 3-2.

I see Clyde Edwards-Helaire getting in the end zone Monday Night, he tends to play well in primetime, I don't see that trend changing. I see a potential shootout, I think this is the week that Las Vegas figures things out, Darren Waller will be involved, Davante Adams will be able to find similar matchups against Kansas City that he did against the Broncos, this game has high-scoring written all over it.

Some of that scoring will come early in the 1st quarter and even if the Raiders can't figure things out, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs get out to a quick 14-0 lead. o10.5 points in the 1st quarter is a fun prop to throw into some of your long shot bets, and the odds aren't too bad at all. If the game ends up being close as I think it can, Patrick Mahomes will edge out Derek Carr is passing yards as well. Chiefs 35-24.
